This flower stand was originally for D4DJ 4th Live! If you’ve already contributed then there’s no need to contribute again, though you can still participate in the TwiPla. I’ll be contacting everyone shortly to reconfirm their participation.
It’s been so long! We’ve been unable to send flower stands for the past year and a half due to COVID-19, but we’re back at it now that Bushiroad events have started allowing flowers again!
A lot has happened in the past year, including the unfortunate passing of our artist @Witera. As mentioned in this tweet, we will continue to keep his name on future flower stands to this trio in his honor.
Our other artist, whose new handle is @sdfxtsu, has agreed to continue working on the stand and will be handling our graphic design and illustration this time around.
I’ll be contacting everyone who previously contributed to the stand to reconfirm their participation. Thank you to everyone for your patience!
Hazuki Himari and Kagami Karin were recently added to the roster for 4th LIVE, so we’re now able to send them another flower stand!
All the D4DJ units unveiled their new stagecostumes at D4 FES, and we’ll be using these costumes for the illustrations. We’ll also be putting headshot illustrations on the message board this time as a reference to their newly released Dig Delight! single.
This blog post will compile all the progress for the Happy Around! 1st LIVE Backstage Flowers! Updates will also be posted on my Twitter with the hashtag #HapiAra1stFlowers! → Flower Stand Tweet
Happy Around! 1st LIVE was announced at D4DJ D4 FES! The event will take place on 6/20 at Shimokitazawa GARDEN, the live house which served as the birthplace for Poppin’Party, RAISE A SUILEN, and Argonavis (tbd)!
Although the venue is too small to send a full size flower stand, we’d still like show our support for the seiyuu with backstage flowers! Here is an example of backstage flowers done by our florist for Kato Rihona and Otsuka Sae from Rondo!
These are often sent by individuals or small groups of people, but I’d like everyone to be able to chip in at least a small amount to show their support! We cannot fit a large number of names on the message card, so we will be addressing the flowers from overseas Digglers instead!
We used pink and blue flowers as the focal point to celebrate their new Dig Delight! single. Orange flowers were added because the color is shared by both Happy Around! and Merm4id. The flowers at the top were chosen to match the flowers on Merm4id’s costumes! Our florist also added a little ikebana flair and balloons to create a gorgeous arrangement!
Many organizers are coming together to arrange flower stands for all the Bandori seiyuu attending CharaExpo USA this year! =) 今年のキャラエキスポUSA2019にてそれぞれのバンドリ声優宛のフラスタ企画があります!
Please support us in supporting the seiyuu! ^^ 海外のファンだけではなく日本の方も参加できますので是非よろしくお願いします!^^
The goal of this flower stand is to make Reochi feel a connection with all of her fans, fellow members, and everyone supporting her. I want all of us to come together to make Reo feel loved, and to make her laugh! れおちゃんにみんなが繋がってる気持ちをさせたいです。最大の笑顔は目指せ! #チームRASと一緒にできたら何より嬉しいです!よろしくお願いします!
I’m aiming to keep the flower stand itself relatively simple and instead pack the illustrations and overall composition full of references. Reo is always talking about the little details and unseen effort (esp. from staff) that goes into lives. I want every part of the flower stand to include a little detail for her to unwind, like a flowery, illustrated advent calendar of delightful references. For example, the stand will be 152.5 cm tall, Reo’s exact height (the .5 cm is important!). れおちゃんは細かいことをよく話しますのでフラスタの見た目は「シンプル」ですがしっかり観ると色々繋がりと愛を表す形で作りたいです。
Three chibi characters (6.9cm x 4.6cm) will be surrounding Reo to present her flowers: • PAREO (RAISE A SUILEN, Bandori!) (shirt) • Shimizu Esora (Peaky P-Key, D4DJ) • Yumeoji Fumi (Rinmeikan Girls School, Starlight Re:LIVE)
PAREO will be on Reo’s head, throwing confetti (pink and teal PasuPare-like flowers) like she does for CHU²! Message: “Congratulations!” (日本語)
Esora will be on her right doing the Peaky P-Key pose with a big bang (dark green and orange flowers with pointy edges)! Message: “ピキ!” (Peaky!) (日本語)
Fumi will be atop a pool of light blue, lime green, red flowers and holding a bottle of her beloved (yuzu) ponzu with a tag that reads “栞より” (from Shiori). Message: “レッツポン酢!” (Let’s ponzu!) (日本語)
Message Board!
The message board will be a 27.5cm radius circle designed after Agematsu’s macarons (also CHU²’s macarons), representing all the circles of people around her. Contributor names will be placed in a ring around the inner edge, with Reo’s name in the center. The idea is to “surround” Reo with all her supporters!
The macarons will omit her colors and instead be colored after her fellow members!
Upright Macarons • RAS: Red (LAYER), Yellow (MASKING), Lime Green (LOCK), Light Blue (CHU²), Dark Blue (HANAZONO) • Rinmeikan: Light Purple (Tamao), Light Pink (Ichie), Light Green (Rui), Red (Yuyuko) • Peaky P-Key: Red (Kyouko), Violet (Shinobu), Gold (Jennifer)
Flat Macarons • Flag macarons for the contributors’ countries • Cream-colored macarons with”スタッフさん” (Staff) written on them, as Reo never fails to thank all the staff involved. One of these will also have(仮)written on it.
We will be using direct quote from her blog for a small message on the board: この繋がりが私達の宝です! (This connection is our treasure!) 大好きです!!! (We love you!!!) byチームRAS (by Team RAS. a reference to her old Twitter post signatures)
rough sketch!
Illustration Details!
Reo will be wearing this dress, which was given to her by Raychell.
Her hair will be black & white twintails (PAREO/Esora), and she’ll be wearing the hat Raychell picked out for her, Pacabou! There will be small white ribbons (Esora), pink + teal hair ties (PAREO) and a star (Shiho) attached to Pacabou. Her earrings will be these ones picked out by her high school friend.
Reo will have her keytar on her back with three charms hanging off it! • The original heart pendant for the necklace with the “S” from her agency logo inside (the president of her agency, Satou Hiromi, picked it up by chance when she lost it) • The wind chime that Reo copied Meguchii’s pose with • The ornament from Fumi’s sash
Reo will be standing on the block that staff custom-made for her, complete with actual green tape on it. Her shoes will be the same ones in the photo!
Her squirrel will be named リスタッフさん (Risutaff-san) Risu (Squirrel) + Staff Its nickname is ふぅさん (Foo-san), because “We are RAISE A SUILEN!!!!! Fooooo!!!!!”
This will also be a joint message across all the RAS stands! Try to find it! =) (Hint: member join order)
Oh, and we are giving Reo a big Kumachi family as an additional gift because we can. The biggest one will be named びっぐまち (Biggumachi)!
This blog post will compile all the progress for the 3 Agency Joint Audition Crew 2nd Live Flower Stand! All updates will also be posted on my Twitter with the hashtag #OyuHimaringoKagamin2ndFlowers! → Flower Stand Tweet
Though only two of the three seiyuu ended up in the same D4DJ unit, I would like to continue supporting these three together for as long as they hold onto their bond as the joint audition crew! From here on out, they’ll be forming ties with many other seiyuu through their work and, hopefully, receiving lots of love and support regardless of where they go or who they end up with.
The concept for this flower stand is to theme the flowers/illustrations after their new D4DJ characters! As with the previous stand, the idea would be to divide the flower stand into three sections with an illustrated cutout for each seiyuu. The cutouts will have the seiyuu in their costumes, along with a small chibi of their characters.
We may play around the idea of using Oyu as the “Rinku” (link) between these three, though in practice this mostly just means having her in the center. The Happy Around! characters are also named after bridges, so this also ties into this concept.
Hazuki Himari → Merm4id (Hidaka Saori)
Nishio Yuka → Happy Around! (Aimoto Rinku)
Kagami Karin → Happy Around! (Akashi Maho)
These conveniently fall into Autumn-like colors, so we can play around this theme because the live is in October (Autumn)! It’s also vaguely in rainbow order with this arrangement, so that’s another idea.
Outfits for the illustrations are their stage outfits!
Thank you so much to everyone for participating! ^^ I’m also incredibly grateful to our wonderful, amazing florist who worked tirelessly through the typhoon to prepare this stand for us🙏
I wanted to compile the process for the 3 Agency Joint Audition Crew D4DJ 1st Live flower stand somewhere more collected than Twitter, so here we go!
The goal was to make Oyu, Himaringo, and Kagamin feel as much love and support as possible, from as many overseas fans as possible! Their audition results were only announced about three months prior so I wasn’t sure if we’d be able to gather enough support but I was amazed to actually receive a surplus of funds! I was also surprised and happy that someone from Japan personally reached out and asked if they could participate! I’ll definitely be more mindful of this in the future.
Thank you so much to everyone who participated. ^^ Special thanks to Tsukiyo for many things, @Witeria for illustrations, and @pastelprecure for graphic design! This was the first flower stand I’d ever organized and I couldn’t be happier with it! Thank youuu!
It all started with this poll. The goal was for the flowers to be more personal so the original idea was to do backstage flowers for each seiyuu, basically small bouquets that are sent backstage rather than a full flower stand. However, it later turned out that the venue didn’t allow backstage flowers so we went for a full stand instead!
From the start, the ideas for the colors were: Nishio Yuka: 2/3 black, 1/3 white—2/3rds of her clothes are black! Hazuki Himari: 1/2 choco brown, 1/2 mint green—she loves chocolate mint! Kagami Karin: red, white, blue—she was born in America!
Much to my surprise (I expected to pay for most of this), we reached 25% funding with two days! A few days later, it was announced that backstage flowers were not allowed. And so we pivoted into a full flower stand and reached 70% funding just a week later!
The first draft of the flower stand by @Witera with minor edits from myself.
It was way prettier when I got it from the illustrator but I had to make the colors and labels more specific for the florist and so it ended up like this. ^^;
We were approaching full funding far ahead of schedule and so I created a poll (the first of many) to decide what to do with excess funds. We settled on something “Decorative”, though it was closely tied with “Functional”. (I couldn’t actually think of something functional so this was a huge relief…)
We decided on teddy bears after a 15-0 vote! And their names? Nishio Yuka: DJ サプライズ/Surprise (from STAY TUNE #2, she loves surprises) Hazuki Himari: DJ Himaringo (Otsuka Sae’s nickname for her) Kagami Karin: DJ Sierra (from STAY TUNE #2, her middle name)
I went shopping shortly after and chose these three cuties and headphones for them!
DJ Surprise
DJ Himaringo
DJ Sierra
DJ サプライズ looked way too smug and I just had to grab it for Oyu! DJ Himaringo was based on thin mints (i.e. chocolate mint)… what are the chances? DJ Sierra was super precious and gave me the same vibes I got from Kagamin on the one and only stream she had been on at the time (STAY TUNE #2).
At this point, the names for DJ Surprise and DJ Sierra were good to go but DJ Himaringo didn’t feel quite right so I created another poll (but not before messing the previous poll up first, oops)! DJ りんご (ringo, apple) – based on Himaringo DJ しょくま (shokuma, shoku/food + kuma/bear) – Himari loves food DJ 配布 (haifu, distribution) – Himari distributes anime character goods among her friends DJ チョコミント (chocomint) – Himari loves chocolate mint
After they were stuffed, the staff informed me that we could add scents! I spent too much time sniffing every single scent (this was like hunting for aromatherapy oils for Rikopin all over again…). I’m so sorry, kind staff lady! D=
Oyu: Popcorn (she has this thing about cheese and this was as close as I could get) Himaringo: Thin Mints (you know the drill by now) Kagamin: Strawberry (I honestly didn’t know enough about her so I played it safe)
Ribbon concept!
Thanks to the magic of 100 yen stores, I found bags and little decorative flowers as soon as I arrived in Japan!
Bags for Oyu (left) and Kagamin (right)!
Flowers!
I’d like to thank @Witeria once again, both for the incredible illustrations and also for putting up with my constant requests to add in details. ><
I went shopping at Kiddy Land (for Rimirin, actually) and found a Disney bag for Himaringo! On a radio show she was on a few days prior, Himaringo mentioned liking Disneyland so much that she goes at least each month. She didn’t name any favorite character and so her bag has ALL THE CHARACTERS~!
This was my first time making ribbons so it took… a fair amount of time.
Ribbons are hard…
Oyu
Himaringo
Kagamin
And final pictures of the plushies in their bags! Had a little too much fun with Kagamin’s.
Smug
Cute
Definitely not a bunny
Finally, the day of the event!
Our final stand!
Our final stand 2!Our wonderful message board by @pastelprecure!
Seiyuu Tweets: Oyu • Himaringo • Kagamin Oyu’s natsumi burger (without tartar sauce) comment still cracks me up to this day!
And that’s it for this flower stand!
More than anything else, I’m truly happy and grateful that 21 people from around the world came together to send their love and support to these three who are just beginning their journeys as seiyuu! Showing someone that you care for them and want to make them happy, regardless of the response… I think that’s one of the most important things in life. Putting everything you have into something for someone, praying it’ll make them even the slightest bit happy—aren’t gifts wonderful?
The Bandori Masterlist began when Forreva and Nine realized that we were all working towards very similar goals and could pool this work together. Hours upon hours upon hours of joint research and typing later, we finally brought the Masterlist to the public! Over the months, Forreva has done an incredible job of bringing all the Bandori subbers together with everyone connected by this spreadsheet! In time, we also found a home in the #translations channel in the Bandori Franchise Discord. All the meanwhile, I’ve also been maintaining archives for Bandori radio and video shows so that none of them can be lost to time.
I’ve slowly begun venturing into (low quality) translations of seiyuu social media posts, covering Rimi1, Kohara Riko’s 20k followers Q&A, RAS CharaExpo tweets, and the RAS House Party tweets. It’s also become a daily routine to translate RAS tweets on my Twitter account. While my Japanese is far from adequate for the task, I’m striving to hone it as quickly as possible so that I can better understand and relay as much of this wonderful content as possible. This blog is the next step in that journey. My hope is eventually catalogue and refine my past work here, while continuing to translate more and more content.
In time, this blog will hopefully contain:
Updated Bandori Seiyuu Overview
Updated RAISE A SUILEN Overview
Blog translations for Misawa Sachika, Kurachi Reo, Otsuka Sae
Translations for more lengthy/impactful seiyuu tweets
An archive of past work with higher quality translations
This will be a long-term process, as I actually have my hands quite full co-organizing two other Bandori seiyuu projects! My goal in all of this is the same. I want more people to discover the joys of seiyuu content, and I want the people who already enjoy seiyuu content to enjoy it even more!
Co-organized with Toni! ^^ Fandori! The goal of this project is to give back to the seiyuu. They make our lives brighter every day, and we’d like to try our very best to return this favor even the slightest bit! If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please join our Discord server!
This year, we are going to compose, perform, and record one original song each for Poppin’Party, Roselia, RAISE A SUILEN, and Argonavis. We are also making illustrated message booklets for all of the seiyuu in these bands, for a total of 20 booklets!
Please, please, please take some time to send us letters for the seiyuu! We want to include at least a few dozen letters for every seiyuu, even if they are just short sentences! We need your help. ^^
If you are also interested in participating as a musician or illustrator, there is still time! Selections have just begun, so head on over to our Helper Application Form and read this blog post to catch up!
Co-organized with eter and Forreva, with support from all of the incredible Bandori fansubbers. Thank you!
While the Bandori Masterlist serves as very thorough and definitive resource for Bandori seiyuu content, it is somewhat difficult to find and not very practical for finding the latest subbed content! The #translations channel in the Franchise Discord has been serving this purpose, but one key point is that the people who frequent this channel are already in the loop. Our goal is to expand the Bandori seiyuu fandom!
As such, we’ve decided to create a new Twitter account that will be posting all the latest subbed/translated Bandori content as it comes out! We look forward to your support. ^^
P.S. The account was live, but at the time of this post it is currently locked because Twitter lied to me and said you could put any birthday (even the birthday of your cat!). It turns out that they have enough logic to check for accounts that are under the age of 13, but not enough logic to figure that an account whose birthday is January 1, 2019 may not actually be tweeting from a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I am aiming to resolve this as quickly as possible!
